Captain Commando è l'omaggio di Capcom ai classici telefilm e riviste di fantascienza americani e al lavoro di artisti come Frank R. Paul. Non è comunque uno di quei soliti omaggi: "Battle Circuit" è un esempio ancora migliore dell'entusiasmo di Capcom per questo genere di temi.

Ogni pulsante, nel cabinato dedicato a 4 giocatori, usa un unico pulsante d'azione due-in-uno: due grossi pulsanti con la forma di un mezzo cerchio (rosso e blu) messi uno di fianco all'altro in modo da formare un grosso cerchio, questo per far sembrare i due pulsanti come uno unico tagliato verticalmente a metà .

Il nome di Mack the Knife è basato su una canzone resa popolare a metà del 1950 da Louis Armstrong.

Il nome di Ginzu il Ninja proviene dai coltelli da cucina "Ginzu" che furono introdotti nel 1970, resi famosi dalle sue campagne pubblicitarie in TV.

Sho (Ginzu il Ninja nella versione Giapponese) è probabilmente basato su Sho Kosugi, un attore giapponese conosciuto per le sue trasposizioni di ninja in vari film del 1980.
