Captain America and the Avengers (c) 1991 Data East.


Un picchiaduro a scorrimento laterale (con occasionali sezioni sparatutto ) in cui uno o più giocatori intraprendono il ruolo di Captain America, Iron Man, Vision, o di Hawkeye che si preparano per la battaglia con Red Skull (Teschio Rosso) ed i suoi tirapiedi. Ogni personaggio ha un'arma o un potere diverso che possono essere usati durante il gioco per aiutarli nel combattimento. Captain America utilizza il suo scudo, Iron Man usa i suoi raggi repulsori, Vision usa il suo fascio solare e Hawkeye usa arco e frecce. Ci sono inoltre supereroi supplementari quali Quicksilver, Sub-Mariner, Wonder Man e The Wasp che appaiono in determinati punti del gioco per aiutare i personaggi dei giocatori. Alcuni dei super-nemici che attendono gli eroi sono Klaw, The Living Laser, Whirlwind, The Grim Reaper, The Wizard, The Controllers, The Mandarin, The Juggernaut (da X-MEN), Ultron e Crossbones. Il gioco consiste di cinque livelli.

- 0.58: Bryan McPhail added Captain America (Asia Rev 4) and clones (UK Rev 4) and (US Rev 1.9). ARM CPU emulation [Bryan McPhail, Phil Stroffolino].

- 3rd February 2002: Bryan McPhail submitted the Captain America driver and ARM CPU core written by him and Phil Stroffolino. Captain America is almost perfect and includes sound, but the other games in that driver don't work - Fighter's History uses a protection chip, Dragon Gun and Locked 'N Loaded use a different sprite RAM format which is not yet emulated, and Tattoo Assassins works with sound, but lacks the graphics ROMs.

- 30th January 2002: Guru - Received a Captain America PCB to do a redump of a few ROMs two weeks ago. Thanks to Pelle for loaning me the board and Bryan McPhail for the emulation preview shots.

TODO:

- Tattoo Assassins & Dragongun use an unemulated chip (Ace/Jack) for special blending effects. It's exact effect is unclear.

- Video backgrounds in Dragongun?

- Locked'N Loaded (parent set) is a slightly different hardware revision: board # DE-0420-1 where the US set is DE-0359-2. The sound is _not_ hooked up correctly for this set.


NOTES:

- Data East 32 bit ARM based games.

- Driver: Emulation by Bryan McPhail and Tim, Avedis and Stiletto for many things including work on Fighter's History protection and tracking down Tattoo Assassins.

- Tattoo Assassins is a prototype, it is thought only 25 test units were manufactured and distributed to test arcades before the game was recalled. TA is the only game developed by Data East Pinball in USA, rather than Data East Corporation in Japan. Tattoo Assassins uses DE Pinball soundboard 520-5077-00 R

- The Tattoo Assassins EPROM seems strange... It's 1024 bytes in size, and 8 bit in width, but offers a 'multiple read' mode where a bit stream can be read starting at any byte boundary.


WIP:

- 0.145u2: Added video\dvi.c.

- 0.144u6: Prevent possibility of out of bounds array access (cpu\h6280\h6280ops.h), this fixes a crash in DECO32 driver [hap].

- 0.143u1: Miodrag Milanovic fixed missing or corrupt sound in drivers using the BSMT2000 sound.

- 0.136u4: Fabio Priuli made DECO32 driver independent of DECO16IC (it only needed a drawing routine) and removed deco16ic.c now that it is not needed anymore.

- 0.136u2: Corrado Tomaselli verified all DECO32 clocks and corrected HuC6280 clock following old Charles McDonald notes I had about internal divisor. Added a note on the ARM CPU used by this game: it's a Data East 101 custom.

- 0.136: David Haywood changed DECO32 driver to use partial updates for raster effects instead of buffering scanline data (but left Dragon Gun using the buffering, because the video rendering code is far too slow with 224 partial updates for now).

- 0.132u4: R. Belmont changed ARM (26-bit) TST/TEQ opcode to only update flags. This eliminates the need for patches in poizone/ertictac, all DECO32 games still run and it better matches the documentation.

- 0.131u1: MooglyGuy merged memory maps in the DECO32 driver.

- 0.129u1: Christophe Jaillet removed extraneous bitmap clear in the DECO32 driver.

- 0.113: Zsolt Vasvari removed unnecessary idle skipping code from the DECO32 driver. This allows removal of a couple of now-unused functions from cpuexec. Aaron Giles rewrote the BSMT2000 to be more accurate. Various modes are now software selected at startup based on the register value at reset time. Changed all existing drivers so they properly hooked up the reset line on the chip in order to make this control work. Also added correct BSMT2000 ADPCM output.

- 0.111u2: Aaron Giles improved cycle timings in the ARM CPU core. Altered the deco32 CPU clocks to be more realistic.

- 0.93: Fixed clock speed to 15255 Hz in games with second OKI6295.
